The gesture

January 1, 2013

I had the privilege and happiness of talking to my parents for the arrival of 2013. I say this with pomp that may seem excessive. It is only the unrestrained observation of the feelings that inhabit me. I am 53 years old, and I am still in front of them lowliness that only seeks to be loved.

During the conversation, Dad approached mom, slipped his arm behind her, and then slowly put his hand on her shoulder. My amateur photographer’s eye understood the importance of the gesture. I immediately started the screenshot.

This is indeed the sign of a love that has been dignified and refined at the river of time. How many times have their bodies met like this? Who carries each other’s blood? Who understands what the other person is feeling? Their eyes exchange diamonds of understanding.

Who will dare to claim that life can be lived alone?

Happy New Year 2013, and may your loneliness, if it exists, wither away forever.
